Renew is an application created to help people who have gone through major surgery. They are then able to access personal healthcare plans which are specific to their needs and the surgery they have gone through. This includes, meal plans, exercise plans and also wound-care guides. The main tool I used for my project has been Figma. Previously I used programs such as Adobe XD for protype work but after using Figma on placement, I have grown more confident with it.
I have also been using Photoshop and Illustrator for any icon and illustration work. Photoshop is used for the sketching phase; I then bring the sketch into Illustrator to create it. Along with this, I used Photoshop to sketch out my wireframes and to create mock-ups. I have built upon a number of skills such as UI/UX design, research and prototyping and will carry what I've I learned into future projects.
The goal of this project was to create an application which explains at least 5 elements from the periodic table to children aged 8-10. It was important to create something that is entertaining for kids to engage with. I began by researching existing applications through websites such as Pinterest, Dribble and Behance to get an idea of the theme I want to go for. I knew that I wanted to create an application aimed towards children so I started with creating a mind map to explore different ideas. I decided to choose the superhero theme as they are a popular subject in many TV shows and movies aimed towards childrenOnce I had gathered all of my research, I sketched out the different application screens to help me visualise the application and get an idea on the user flow.
The idea for the application is to have five superheroes who represent different elements in the period table that are essential for everyday life. The user gets an overview of the element's purpose, along with icons they can click into, to find out some unique uses of the different elements.
Once I have mapped out the application, I am able to move onto the next stage which is prototyping.
After some more revisions of the character designs, I took the sketches into Illustrator and created vector illustrations of the characters. I wanted to make these characters dynamic and vibrant, with different poses and styles to help capture the interest of the audience.
The goal of this project is to create a healthcare application. We began the project completing research as a group, then each went our own directions. One aspect of healthcare we researched was Allied Health. I decided to focus on orthoptics which is a profession under allied health.
Like with all my projects, I started out on paper by sketching out the wireframes for my application screens. This way I am able to come up with a concept and foundation for my application which I can develop further. Through this process, I found I wanted to include features such as an option for video calling with a doctor and a list with an overview of doctors and their qualifications.
I then took the paper sketches into figma and digitalised them. These mockups allowed me to plan out the layout and structure of the application.After creating the initial mockups, I then decided on a colour scheme and designed elements I wanted to include such as illustrations and a logo.
